Happy Saint George’s Day! Feliç Diada de Sant Jordi!

Working for a company like GFT that has large pockets of staff in other countries gives me an amazing insight into other region’s culture. GFT’s amazing outsourced development is based in Barcelona and they are a fabulous team to work with. They not only share the GFT UK’s team enthusiasm and professionalism, but our locations also share our Saints. The Patron Saint of England Saint George is also the Patron Saint of Catalonia.

Today, our GFT colleagues in Barcelona will not only celebrate Saint George’s Day, but also the Day of the Rose and the Day of the Book. The tradition there is that women are given roses, and men books. Not only sweethearts exchange those gifts, but also family members, friends and colleagues. During Saint George’s Day, more than four million roses and around 800,000 books are sold in the streets of Barcelona and other communities in Catalonia.
